Apple unveiled the latest version of its iOS operating system — iOS 17 at the company’s annual developer conference WWDC 2023 in June this year. Now at the iPhone 15 series launch, Apple announced that it will roll out the iOS 17 update for all the compatible iPhones on September 18.
The company has also confirmed the list of iPhone that will not receive the latest iOS 17 update. Apple confirmed that only iPhone XS and later will receive the iOS 16 update. This means that iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will not get the iOS 17 update.
The OS update brings a host of new features to compatible iPhones. These include Live Voicemail, interactive widgets, use Siri during phone calls, Standby Mode, Contact Posters and more.
While these iPhones won’t receive the most recent OS updates, Apple is committed to providing essential security patches as needed. However, the mentioned iPhones will not acquire any additional features and will maintain their current functionality.
For those unaware, Apple launched the iPhone X in 2017. It is the 10th anniversary edition iPhone of the company. The smartphone is powered by A11 Bionic chipset and it comes with an all screen design. On the other hand, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were also launched in 2017.
