Microsoft is testing new features for some of the built-in tools on Windows 11. The tech giant has updated its blog post to announce the latest features. The beta updates for tools such as – Snipping Tool, Phone Link and Photos have been rolled out. The update for the Snipping Tool promises to improve the overall capture experience on Windows 11. These updates have been rolled out for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels.
Text Actions with Snipping Tool
The latest update for Snipping Tool has introduced a new feature called Text Actions. This feature can detect text in captured screenshots. Text Actions will make it easier for users to copy text from any image to share with others or paste into another app.
To use this feature, Windows Insiders have to click the Text Actions button in the toolbar of the Snipping Tool app. Choosing this option will start showing the available text that can be selected and copied with the mouse. Users can also click the Copy all text button in the toolbar or use the Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C shortcut to select and copy all text using their keyboard.
With Text Actions in the Snipping Tool, users can remove sensitive information in screenshots before sharing. The Quick Redact option on the toolbar can automatically hide emails and phone numbers or any selected text. Users can also select the Redact Text option from the right-click menu to hide the text.
Remote capture with Phone Link
Microsoft is also gradually rolling out an update for its Phone Link app. This update introduces the ability for users to access and edit their latest photos from their Android mobile device in the Snipping Tool on their PC.
Users will also receive instant notifications on their PC whenever a new photo is captured on their Android device. For that, both devices need to be connected via Phone Link.
