With the recent surge in the coronavirus cases in India, many hospitals and medical facilities are struggling to provide beds and necessary resources to the patients. In such situations, it is important that we learn to treat mild COVID-19 infections at home, to enable the treatment of severe coronavirus patients at the hospitals. Just like flu or common cold, with proper measures, mild COVID can be cured at home. All you need to do is monitor your symptoms and manage them with the help of medications and at home remedies.
The novel coronavirus has brought along different and varied ranges of symptoms. Although the list has continued to increase and expand, the most common symptoms remain to be the same. Therefore, before rushing to the hospitals, it is important to locate the symptoms of COVID-19 and then get yourself tested for the virus. Here are some of the most common COVID symptoms you should watch out for.
– Fever
– Dry cough
– Sore throat
– Runny and stuffy nose
– Chest pain and shortness of breath
– Fatigue
– Gastrointestinal infection
– Loss of sense of smell and taste
If you have come in contact with a COVID positive individual, but have no symptoms associated with the disease, it is best to get yourself tested. While you may not have any noticeable symptoms, you are still a carrier of the infection and may put other people’s lives at risk. If you test positive, isolate yourself from others and do not come in contact with anyone until your report is negative.
Mild COVID symptoms do not need medical attention and can be treated at home. Once you notice signs of coronavirus infections, you must isolate yourself for at least one week until you have recovered and continue monitoring your symptoms. People at a higher risk of severe or critical infections include older people and those with underlying health conditions.
Most people who test positive for the virus suffer with either mild symptoms or are asymptomatic, which can be treated at home. The treatments are aimed at relieving pain induced by the infection. Staying hydrated during the course of your infection is of utmost important. Apart from that, you must take good rest during such times. Prescribed pain relievers can ease your symptoms.
However, do not engage in any medications without your doctors approval. Seek medical advice and do not panic.
While there have been no scientific proofs of whether or not immunity boosting herbal or natural remedies can cure COVID-19, it is important to eat nutrient-rich foods and drink fluids rich in antioxidants.
In case your symptoms continue to worsen, you must watch out for these emergency symptoms.
– Trouble breathing
– Persistent chest pain
– Mental confusion
– Bluish lips
– Inability to stay awake
Seek medical attention as and when you notice these symptoms.
Given that you test positive for the virus, do not be negligent. Isolate yourself immediately in a well ventilated room and sanitize your surroundings. Avoid coming in contact with others and do not share any common space or household items. Wear a mask at all times and frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
