By now we all know that the most common symptoms associated with COVID-19 are cold, cough, fever, loss of smell and taste. Knowing the common symptoms makes us well aware of when to isolate ourselves or when to go for a test.

COVID second wave is spreading like a wildfire and the symptoms are not entirely the same as the first. The virus can impact an individual’s physical and psychological wellbeing. Here are eight symptoms apart from fever and cold that can tell if you have contracted the virus.
Cough has been the main symptom of COVID-19, but a persistent cough with a different sound from the usual cough is one of the symptoms. One might confuse this with a smoker’s cough.

As per a study done in China, pink eye or conjunctivitis is a sign of COVID-19 infection. In case of pink eye, people can develop redness, swelling and watery eyes. Many participants who got infected with the new strain of the coronavirus showed this symptom.

Dyspnea, difficulty in breathing with uneasiness in the chest and heart palpitations are also some of the symptoms.

As per researchers, many gastrointestinal complaints are also coming in. The COVID-19 infection impacts the upper respiratory system. A new study says that diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, nausea and pain are some signs of coronavirus. If you are facing any digestive discomfort, you must get yourself tested.

After recovering from any illness or viral infection, the body tends to take time to healand people often get tired easily but COVID recovered patients suffer from fatigue and exhaustion that can last up to six months.

Studies show that around 63 per cent of patients have reported suffering from fatigue, weakness, muscle pain for almost six months after the first symptoms start to show up.
People who contracted the COVID-19 virus have reported neurological symptoms. As per a study, 58 per cent of long COVID patients have reported signs of brain fog or mental confusion. Not only this, neurological issues including memory loss and sleep deprivation have also been reported.

As per a study, heart palpitations or the feeling of having a fast-beating, fluttering and pounding heart can also be a sign of COVID-19 infection. As per a study published in JAMA Cardiology, 78 per cent of recovered COVID-19 patients claimed cardiac involvement, while 60 per cent had ongoing myocardial inflammation.

One of the most annoying symptoms of COVID-19 is loss of smell and taste. Losing the functions of your olfactory senses can be frustrating and hard to cope up with.
