While we are busy embracing international food habits and cuisines, somewhere our local Indian foods are being ignored and their link to our immunity and strength is also being missed. Recently, celebrity nutritionist and author Rujuta Diwekar shared a picture of one such food item that has lost its identity and it is ‘Jackfruit Seeds’.
According to her, it’s time to return to our roots. She states, “The journey will be challenging but rewarding. With one step at a time approach, we must reclaim our lost foods and practices.”
Talking about the benefits of jackfruit seeds, she says, “They can be cooked as a sabzi or curry and eaten with rice. They can be steamed or roasted with some salt and pepper and make for a delicious snack. Rich in minerals like zinc, vitamins, and fibre, they add diversity to your diet, strength to your tissues and flavour to an otherwise monotonous life.
