OnePlus launched its first-ever foldable phone, the OnePlus Open last month, with the Sony LYT-T808 main camera sensor. The Chinese smartphone maker is now set to include the same sensor to its upcoming flagship model, the OnePlus 12, a report said.
Earlier, the company confirmed that the OnePlus 12 (which is expected to be launched in the coming months) will feature the Sony Lytia “Pixel Stacked” sensor. OnePlus recently took to the Chinese social media platform Weibo to confirm that the upcoming smartphone will use a Sony LYT-808 sensor for the first time. Apart from this, the company also revealed that the OnePlus 12 smartphone will also house a 64MP OV64B periscope telephoto lens.

In the Weibo post, OnePlus claims that both these sensors are “masterpieces” in the field of mobile phone flagship sensors. The company also noted that these sensors also have similar imaging capabilities and are the world’s leading mobile image sensors.
Compared to the 48MP 1/1.43-inch LYT-T808 sensor used in the OnePlus Open, the company will reportedly use a 50MP 1/1.4-inch unit for the OnePlus 12 smartphone. Moreover, the upcoming smartphone will also support optical image stabilisation (OIS) and Hasselblad Algorithm.
The company has also shared some samples from the camera of the OnePlus 12 which confirms that the smartphone’s camera will support f/1.6 aperture. OnePlus also compared one of the photos with the ones clicked by the iPhone 14 Pro.
OnePlus 12 will also feature a 1/2-inch 64MP OV64B periscope telephoto lens. This sensor will also support an equivalent focal length of 70mm, 3x optical zoom, f/2.6 aperture and OIS. The company has also shared a few camera samples taken by the periscope camera of the smartphone.
Apart from this, OnePlus has already confirmed a 2K “X1 (Oriental) Screen” from BOE for the smartphone. The display will support up to 2600 nits brightness and will also feature Oppo’s first-generation self-developed image quality engine Display P1 chip. OnePlus 12 will come powered by the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
Rumours claim that the chipset will be backed by up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The smartphone is also expected to pack a 5400mAh battery unit that may support 100W wired fast charging as well as 50W wireless fast charging. More details about the OnePlus 12 is expected to surface in the coming weeks.
