Earlier this year, Microsoft removed X (previously known as X) integration from Xbox consoles and the Game Bar on Windows, cutting off an option for gamers to share their gaming content directly on X. Its rival Sony has now announced “termination of X integration” for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Under the “Discontinued PlayStation apps, features and services”, Sony said that starting November 13, integration with X will no longer function on PS 5 and PS 4 consoles.

“This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4 (or link an X account to do so),” the company said.

Users have already started seeing this notice from Sony when they share the content on the microblogging platform. However, gamers can still share their gaming content on the platform by downloading it on their phones and then uploading it on the Elon Musk-owned platform.

This could make the process a little more cumbersome, however, the easiest method will be to use Sony’s official PlayStation App for Android and iOS. The app allows users transfer screenshots and video from their PlayStation console to a mobile device.

X new API pricing
In April, Microsoft announced that it has disabled the ability to share game uploads to Twitter directly from the console and Game Bar on Windows.

“You can still share your favorite moments to Twitter via the Xbox app for Android and iOS,” the company said. Both Sony and Microsoft did not specify the reason for this but the latter’s move came soon after X announced the rollout of the new API pricing structure.

Reports suggested that this new pricing could have cost a company like Microsoft around $42,000 per month. X also offers free, and basic tier for $100 per month but those are available for smaller projects.
